How we work

Deep sector knowledge. Rigorous process.

Marlow & Finch has been independently owned and run since 2010. We've grown carefully — a small team of specialists, each with material experience in Sales and Marketing, working on hundreds of placements a year. We build long relationships with clients and candidates because we take time to understand the brief, the market, and the people involved. The result is what you get with a specialist firm: your consultant knows your sector inside out, has likely worked with your existing team, and will tell you honestly when something won't work.

01

Sector specialists

Every brief is handled by someone with deep, lived experience in Sales and Marketing. Not a generalist with a database.

02

Honest conversations

We'll tell you when the brief is wrong, the salary is wrong, or the role is harder to fill than you think. The conversation is the work.

03

Realistic shortlists

Three to five strong candidates, each spoken to at length. No bulk-emailed CVs. No volume.

04

Replacement guarantees

12-week guarantee on contingent placements; 26 weeks on retained. We stand behind every placement.

The team

A small team.
Each one a specialist.

Every brief is run by someone who has personally specialised in Sales and Marketing — most often for years. That's how we deliver speed and depth at the same time.

Questions we get from clients and candidates

What types of Sales and Marketing roles does Marlow & Finch recruit for?
We recruit across the full spectrum of Sales and Marketing — from graduate roles through to board level. That includes digital marketing, account management, business development, marketing management, sales leadership, and everything in between. Whether it's permanent, contract, or interim, if it's Sales or Marketing, we place it.
How is working with a specialist agency different from a generalist recruiter?
Your consultant has deep, lived experience in Sales and Marketing — not a database and a script. They've likely worked with your existing team, know the market inside out, and can tell you honestly when a brief won't work or a salary is off. You get realistic shortlists of three to five strong candidates, not bulk-emailed CVs.
Do you only work with clients in Oxford?
No. While we're based in Oxford, we recruit for Sales and Marketing roles across the UK. We've been doing this since 2010 and work with clients nationwide, placing hundreds of candidates a year in permanent, contract, and interim positions.
What's your replacement guarantee if a placement doesn't work out?
We offer a 12-week guarantee on contingent placements and 26 weeks on retained searches. If a placement doesn't work out within that period, we'll replace them at no additional fee. We stand behind every person we place.
How long does it typically take to fill a Sales or Marketing role?
It depends on the seniority, specialism, and how competitive the brief is. Because we're specialists, we can move quickly — we already know the market and have existing relationships. The first call is always an honest conversation about timelines, and we'll tell you upfront if a role is going to be harder to fill than you think.
Do you work on a contingent or retained basis?
We work both ways, depending on what suits the brief. Contingent is common for mid-level and some senior roles; retained makes sense for board-level searches or hard-to-fill positions where exclusivity and deeper process are needed. We'll recommend what works best after the first conversation.
What should I expect from the first conversation with Marlow & Finch?
A 30-minute phone call, no obligation. We'll ask about the role, the team, and what's worked or not worked in the past. You'll get an honest view on the brief, the market, and realistic timelines. There's no follow-up unless you'd like one — it's a conversation, not a sales pitch.
Why does Marlow & Finch only send three to five candidates per role?
Because we do the filtering properly. Every candidate on the shortlist has been spoken to at length, vetted against the brief, and is genuinely strong. We don't send volume — we send people we'd stake our reputation on. That saves you time and gets better outcomes.
